Natural Object Holder
RISD Freshman Spatial Dynamics Studio
The prompt was to create a container for a natural object.
The container had to be specific to that object.
I chose a branch of flower I found in the bush in front of my dorm building, because I thought the shape of the flower and the branch was very elegant.
This was the clay prototype of the holder I was gonna make eventually with plaster.
The result. I created two separate parts to hold the stem of the flower as I wanted the holder to highlight the natural curve of the flower branch. I didn't want the holder to obfuscate the view of the stem, unlike other vases that hides the stem of the flower.
